Evaluation

For my 3D product, I used Vectary.   (Online software, laptop)

For my 2D product, I used Autodesk Sketchbook. (App, iPad)

For my animation, I used Flipaclip. (App, iPad)

I ended up choosing these softwares for my products because as I was doing research on different  softwares avaliable to me,    I figured that these were the easiest to work with. I was able to portray my chosen art style in only one software as I didn't find any animation or 2D softwares that offered the tools that I needed for what I wanted to create.

I chose to use my iPad for my animation and 2D product because I have access to a stylus which made it easier for me to draw rather than using a mouse or touchpad. However, I used my laptop for my 3D product because there is minimal drawing involved and more selections are needed which made it easier by using a mouse to make sure I didn't click any incorrect selections on accident.

In Vectary, I would consider that I was very successful during my production. I say this because I came across little to no problems while creating my product and my product came out just how I envisioned.

A prime example of how I was successful in this software would be how easy I was able to model my assets, I breezed through the production of my 3D product quite quickly.

In Autodesk Sketchbook, I would consider myself successful also. I was even able to stick to my initial chosen pop art style due to the freedom that the software allows.  However,  I would argue that I was less successful during my 2D production than my 3D production as I did run into multiple issues. Overall, my    product was successful which shows   through how I was able to design and finish 4 different characters in a sufficient    amount of time.

In Flipaclip, I would consider myself unsuccessful. My conclusion here is justified by how my product turnt out, I was  unable to finish it and I had to rush it due to my bad time management. On the other hand, I would say that the skills that I showcased in my animation itself were successful considering that it was my first time doing it. My product didn't turn out how I wanted it to however it benefitted  by helping me to develop my skills for next time as I can learn from my mistakes this time around.

Out of the three softwares that I chose to use for my production, I  would only consider using two of them again; Vectary & Autodesk Sketchbook.  I wouldn't consider using Flipaclip again due to the amount of limitations on the app.

Vectary and Autodesk Sketchbook provided an enjoyable experience when working in them and I was able to fix issues quite quickly due do the simplicity of the layout. Flipaclip was difficult for me to understand   for my first time using different skills of animation   different to my 2D and 3D software.

In the future, I would like to prepare more for situations like these. I will start to figure out other softwares that are avaliable to me at home and online incase anything like this were to happen again. I would like to practice more with animation overall as my lack of experience showed in my product which explains why my 2D and 3D products came out better than my animated product.

I may also start to develop my own  version of the creative process and tailor it to me as I struggle to follow given time frames so I will try to make my production  schedule more flexible. I am confident that after this project I have learnt a lot that I didn't know before and that I will be be able to make my next project run smoother than this one.

Due to a lot of issues I had with devices and software I had to majorly steer away from my original planning.

The main element of my planning that I wasn't able to achieve would  be the Pop Art style overall as I was only able to execute it in my 2D product, I was also able to stick with the same software throughout the whole of production for my 2D outcome.. I also had to do a lot of searching for a 3D software that worked for me, so during my skills experimentation I was using  a different software to experiment than what I ended up using. I scrapped my 3D and animated product initial ideas  that I stated in my final treatment due to me having to go through a lot of different softwares, which had me worried that I wouldn't be able to create what I had originally planned to. I played it safe and just changed my ideas overall but I still managed to create an okay product for my animated product and I created a great outcome for my 3D product.

The main problems I encountered  during production were mainly technological issues.  I experienced a lot of app crashes and also software crashes, this happened once during production for my 3D product.

I also had trouble retreiving some screenshots due to full iCloud storage on my iPad. Similarly, I recently got a new laptop and when I was transferring files over , I lost some of them but eventually managed to  find some of them in the end.

I was successful in  retrieving lost images however the other issues I encountered were out of my control so I wasn't able to fix them.

The issues that I came across only really affected my animation, it really pushed back my progress which is why I had run out of time. Software issues also affected my 3D outcome due to having to find a whole new software to work in and to restart my production for it a few days in. In the end, I came out successful with my 3D software.

My promotion for my 2D and 3D product were very successful.

I recieved a lot of positive comments on my posts which gave me the impression that people liked it.

I would prove this to be successful considering I made these accounts just for promotion.

On Instagram I was able to gain over  65 likes combined for my 2D and 3D product.

I got the least  exposure on LinkedIn.

I  think that my promotional effort on Instagram paid off the most, I've gained  34 followers as of writing this. I used a lot of relative hashtags and also sent out my account to my mutuals on my personal account. I also shared both posts on both my personal account and promotional account's stories.

I was able to rack up 5 likes on Artstation which is a lot less than Instagram but considering Instagram is a lot more popular than Artstation I think my promotion did adequately well.

I did include hashtags on  LinkedIn however I didn't get much exposure. I found a group feature on LinkedIn where you ca join groups that consist of people of similar interest however my invite request hasn't been accepted yet so  I will be experimenting more with that feature.

Next time, I will focus more on LinkedIn as stated and I will make sure to try out  different methods.  I will try to become a consistent poster on Instagram so that my followers don't end up unfollowing due to them thinking that it is an inactive account. But, I will continue to use hashtags under each post and I will share all of my posts from both of my accounts.  Finally, with Artstation I will have to doa bit more research and try to cater towards people that will appreciate my work on that platform.
